Scholarship Criteria
1. Applicant must be
a Registered Nurse with a baccalaureate
degree in nursing and licensed
by the Board of Nurse Examiners
for the State of Texas.
2.
Applicant must be a resident
of the Rio Grande Valley of
Texas.
3.
Applicant must be accepted
to an accredited Masters or
Post-masters Certificate nurse
practitioner program or must
be a nurse practitioner who
is accepted in an accredited
Doctoral Nursing program.
4.
Applicant must have a minimum
cumulative graduate grade
point average (GPA) of 3.2.
Higher GPA will be taken into
consideration in determining
award.
5.
Applicant must have completed
at least one semester of an
accredited Masters or Postmasters
Certificate, Nurse Practitioner
program or must be a nurse
practitioner who has completed
one semester of an accredited
Doctoral Nursing program
6. Applicant must be a current
member of VAPNA.
7. Applicant must summit three
letters of reference: two
must be professional and one
may be personal pertaining
to this scholarship application.
8.
Applicant must submit a written
statement as to his/her goals
and how getting the advanced
degree will support those
goals.
9.
Each scholarship shall be
a one-time monetary award.
10. Awardees will be notified
by mail. Scholarships will
be awarded directly to individuals at the November VAPNA meeting.
11. Applicant is responsible
