Welcome/Bienvenidos to the Valley Advanced Practice Nurse Association’s (VAPNA) web site. VAPNA is open to each category of advanced practice nurses (APN) including Clinical Nurse Specialists, Nurse Practitioners, Nurse Midwives, and Nurse Anesthetists.

The PURPOSE of this organization is: (1) to promote the professional excellence of advanced practice nurses (APN) in the Rio Grande Valley; (2) to support health care through leadership and advocacy; and (3) to provide professional education.

Our GOALS are: (1) to provide continuing education programs for the APN; (2) to educate the public regarding the role of the APN; (3) to establish channels of communication and cooperation with other groups who share the purpose of VAPNA; (4) to act as a resource group for the APN; and (5) to assist in providing educational scholarships.

VAPNA invests in the future of NP students by providing annual scholarships. These scholarships, usually in the amount of $500.00, are awarded to as many as four NP students annually. These students are graduates of the University of Texas Pan American.
